The Fear gauge spiked overnight. What actually moves it?

Woke up and the Fear gauge was pinned near the top of its range. This is my holiday. But I would like to know what fed it before I start celebrating.

The Fear gauge is a volatility measure, not a mood measure. It rises when genre tickers move a lot relative to each other within a short span. Overnight we saw $SUPR and $PSYC swing in opposite directions within a few windows, mostly on YouTube rows after a batch of new trailer reactions went up. Big dispersion, big gauge.

    not a mood measure

People keep reading it as "how scared is the audience". It is closer to "how much is the audience arguing".

So a high Fear gauge means horror Twitter is having a fight, not that we are all hiding under blankets. Got it. I am doing both.

Trailer editor here. Reaction channels posting within the same few hours is exactly how you get a spike like that. Everyone watches the same 2 minutes and splits into camps by the sting at 1:47.

It also spiked a little on the International page. Spanish language reaction videos went up at our morning, your night.

Good catch. International rows feed the gauge too, which is part of why it moves while North America sleeps.

    Celebrating now. Responsibly. With candles.

Spikes like this usually fade in a day or two. Enjoy it while it lasts, vampire. Not advice.
