Yard haunt thread! Every October I turn the front yard into a small cemetery. This year: twelve tombstones cut from insulation foam, a leaning crypt door made from an old pallet, and a fog chiller so the fog stays low instead of drifting into my neighbor's kitchen (sorry again, Dale).

Tip for foam tombstones: a heat gun for weathering, then a wash of gray and brown paint wiped off with a rag. Instantly looks like it has been rained on since 1880.

I only do a haunted porch. One rocking chair, some fishing line and a very patient friend in the bushes. Low budget, maximum screaming.
Built a small skeleton that waves using a windshield wiper motor. Twelve frames of dread, but in real life.
Sound is cheap and terrifying. A hidden speaker under the porch playing slow creaks and a far away music box. Keep it quiet so people lean in.
Mine is a cryptid sighting setup. Two red LEDs in the tree line, blinking slowly. Nothing else. Kids lose their minds.

Safety reminder from a dad: tape the cords down and keep the path lit. The scariest thing on my block last year was a tripping hazard.
Progress report: tombstones painted, crypt door hinged, fog chiller works. I tested it at dusk and a jogger stopped and applauded. Best review I have ever received.
