I buy the dip on legacy franchises, and $FNAF is the rare one that feels like a legacy franchise to people under sixteen. A lot of younger fans met horror through animatronics, not through slashers.
CRYPT's YouTube signal for $FNAF is huge compared to its news signal. The conversation lives in lore videos and theory channels. Is this the new gateway to the genre?
My niece is eleven and she can explain the FNAF timeline better than I can explain my own job. It is very impressive and a little alarming.
It is the perfect gateway because the scares are mostly jump scares and tension, not gore. You get the adrenaline without the bad dreams.
Honestly the security camera loop is pure haunted house. Watching rooms, waiting for something to move. A very classic idea wearing a pizza place costume.
As a small analog creator: those lore channels taught a whole generation to look for clues in static and grainy footage. Part of my audience comes from there.

This is the part I find most interesting as a signal. $PPPT shows a similar shape: heavy YouTube, lighter news.
Healthy skepticism: a fandom this young can arrive fast and leave fast. I would want to see heat hold outside of launch windows before calling it a generational shift.

I think the real gift is that kids learn horror can be fun and social. They watch playthroughs together and scream together. That is exactly how I started, just with a different game.
