   For legacy slashers it predicts nothing except that the fandom is passionate. We complain because we care. Meta slashers especially invite argument by design.

   Meta slasher fan here and I will defend this: people complain about $SCRM every cycle and then argue about it for weeks. Arguing is engagement. Heat does not care if you are annoyed.

   You cannot strip out the franchise names, that is the genre! Slashers have always been sequels with a new mask. The meta ones are the whole point.
