The 90 day view vs daily noise: which one should a normal person look at?

  1. SlowBurnSallyFanOriginal post#1

I check the Index page daily and it makes me anxious in a way horror films never do. The 90 day view looks so calm by comparison. Is the daily line just noise, and should I switch?

The daily line is noise with occasional news. The 90 day line is news with occasional noise. You want both, but you only need to look at the daily one when something big happened.

That is a nice way to put it. The Index recomputes every fifteen minutes, and the daily chart shows all of that jitter: time zones, weekend patterns, a single viral thread. The 90 day view is a smoothed rolling average and tells you the direction of the genre conversation. If you are a fan, the 90 day is probably what you want. If you are watching a specific launch week, the daily matters.

Switching today. A sixty minute build on a chart is my kind of chart.

Respectfully, the daily noise is the fun part. The 90 day view is for people with retirement accounts.

Guilty. Slow money, long nights, smooth lines.

Note that the 90 day view only has as much history as CRYPT has, and it is still pre launch. Some tickers are closer to a 60 day view with padding. Check the start date on the chart.

Good point and true. Early history on a few newer tickers is thinner. The chart shades the stretch where coverage was partial.

Long books, long charts. Makes sense to me.
