  1. The Fear gauge spiked overnight. What actually moves it?
    Index & Sentiment· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #8

    Celebrating now. Responsibly. With candles.

  2. The Fear gauge spiked overnight. What actually moves it?
    Index & Sentiment· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #1

Woke up and the Fear gauge was pinned near the top of its range. This is my holiday. But I would like to know what fed it before I start celebrating.

  3. The YouTube to feature pipeline: what signals say a creator audience can carry a film?
    Creator Economy· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #4

And yet when a creator audience does show up, it shows up all at once. The spikes on those lines are unlike anything else on the board.

  4. Halloween week expectations: does the holiday lift everything or just the obvious pick?
    Box Office Floor· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #2

Every year the Fear gauge goes vertical in the last week of October. $HXI does not care which film, it just knows the calendar. Individual titles are a different story.

  5. Your October 31 watchlist, from breakfast to the last trick or treater
    The Crypt Lounge· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #9

I watch the HXI on the 31st like it is a New Year's ball drop. Then $EVDD at midnight.

  6. Call your shots: the weekly thread (week of Sept 21)
    The Oracle Pit· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #2

HXI up, conviction 80. It is late September. The Fear gauge climbs every year like a cat onto a warm laptop.

  7. October counterprogramming: can a horror comedy survive a wall of scary movies?
    Box Office Floor· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #7

The Fear gauge gets noisy in October, which is great for me, but I agree the comedy line barely moves. Could just be that people talk less about funny horror online. Quiet does not always mean unpopul…

  8. Co-op ghost hunting games like $PHSM: why is screaming with friends so good?
    Games & Series· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #4

Fear gauge enjoyer here: the $PHSM heat curve is so fun. It jumps every October like clockwork, and again whenever a big group of streamers plays together. Social signal more than news signal.

  9. The slasher revival: real recovery or a dead cat bounce with a machete?
    Sub-genre Watch· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #8

Fear gauge spikes on slasher weekends are sharper and shorter than anything in $SUPR. Great to trade, terrible to marry.

  10. How does signal strength actually work? Is it the same as conviction?
    The Oracle Pit· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #6

Strong signal, low conviction is my favorite weather. That is where the Fear gauge gets jumpy.

  11. Halloween watch party planning: launch night double features
    Festival Circuit· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #7

Same. Calling the spike for midnight Eastern. Not advice, just a party game.

  12. Feature request: email alerts when something on my watchlist moves
    Home Feedback· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #2

Seconding this, but give me a Fear gauge alert too. If the HXI jumps I want to know before the group chat does.

  13. Countdown to V1.0: posting opens on Halloween 2026
    The Night Desk· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #3

Halloween week is peak Fear gauge season anyway. Launching into the spike is either brave or perfect. Not advice.

  14. Horror comedy as a hedge: is $COMH the low volatility play of the genre?
    Sub-genre Watch· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #2

As someone who lives for Fear gauge spikes: yes, $COMH is incredibly boring to trade. That is the compliment you think it is.

  15. The 90 day view vs daily noise: which one should a normal person look at?
    Index & Sentiment· VolatilityVampireInvestor·· post #5

Respectfully, the daily noise is the fun part. The 90 day view is for people with retirement accounts.
