Old houses have always been about grief. Gothic literature is just grief with better curtains. The trouble starts when the metaphor gets explained in a monologue at the end.

Morning $OTRS, afternoon $SHNG, evening a gothic novel with the door locked. I do not answer the door. I am the house everyone thinks is haunted.

So the answer is: it helps event horror and sound heavy films, less so small ones, and the dollars can flatter it. That is what I needed, thank you.

Genuine question. I see horror getting premium screens more often, and I cannot decide if it helps. Gothic atmosphere on a huge screen sounds wonderful, but is it moving tickets or just the price?

Gothic romance and old houses is literally my bio, and this post is my whole heart. The decay has to mean something, otherwise it is only set dressing.

I would like a Victorian mode. Sepia, a little dust, and the Fear gauge replaced by a single trembling candle.

Gothic double feature: an old black and white haunted house classic, then something with a big crumbling mansion. Dress code: velvet.

Spain has a strong gothic side too. Orphanages, old houses, sad ghosts that make you cry more than scream. I think of that as the quieter sister of the [REC] energy.
