   Not a horror screening, but someone once read contest notes out loud in a coffee shop and they were mine. I had to sit there and hear my own opinions about page one. That is my horror story.

   At a meta slasher screening someone yelled 'do not go in there' and a stranger yelled back 'it is a meta slasher, she knows.' Cinema is alive.

   Walkout stats, since people ask: most walkouts I saw were not from the scariest films. They were from the slowest. People can handle a scare. They cannot handle a four minute shot of a hallway.

   Festival midnight section: a man fell asleep and snored through a slow burn, then woke up exactly at the jump scare and screamed louder than anyone. Standing ovation from his row.

    Back row regular here. Someone's phone alarm went off in the dead silence right before a big scare, and the ringtone was the Halloween theme. Half the room screamed, the other half applauded.
